You are invited to join us for a tour highlighting the land management practices being implemented on the over 2,600-acre Shaws Creek Preserve. This conserved property owned by the City of Aiken is undeveloped forest land that protects the Shaws Creek watershed and its reservoir. Tour stops will focus on how longleaf pine restoration projects can improve habitat for upland bird species and will include:
•Dense loblolly pine stands
•Recently site prepared and planted longleaf pine stand
•Implementation of prescribed burning
•Unique rock outcrops
