With over 20,000 companies representing over half of global marketing capitalisation disclosing emissions or Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD) -aligned environmental data there is ‘downward pressure’ on business-to-business (B2B) supply chains for all companies to have a clear sustainability plan.
In 2022 there was an 87% increase in companies setting science-based targets (SBTi). The second highest number of companies was in the UK.
The materials industry experienced the greatest growth with a 160% increase.
Customers from Sainsbury’s to Bae and the NHS are making plans a non-negotiable.
It will become essential to have a clear answer to clients.

James Butcher (CEO) is a serial entrepreneur having been part of the management team (twice as CEO) in technology businesses from their early foundations, through the fund-raising and growth stages to commercial exit (trade sale). Experience with grant funding (e.g. InnovateUK SMART), angel investors and venture capital (incl. a private placing) as well as buy-side experience through DD and acquisition.
James is also an alumnus of University of Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership (CISL) and has spent the last decade working with global brands and retailers to engage their suppliers to drive positive change for more successful, sustainable brands.
Global clients such as Albertsons, Asda, Boots, Coop, SCJohnson, Woolworths (Australia) and award-winning solutions with Waitrose and Walmart (USA).
James is passionate about sharing his experience and helping business to start-up, scale-up and drive practical and cost-effective sustainable transformations that are also good for business.
