About this Event

The Knowledge Center at Chaddock, in partnership with The Tracy Family Foundation is pleased to present 10, FREE, in-person, community presentations. These sessions, designed for community members, professional educators, behavioral health workers, and any other child and family serving individuals will utilize the principles and concepts of Chaddock's Developmental Trauma and Attachment Program® Treatment Model.


WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION:

This session will explore with attendees how to respond when challenging behaviors occur, including the reason and purpose of natural and logical consequences vs. punishment.


WORKSHOP PRESENTER(S) NAME & CREDENTIALS & SHORT BIO:

Kirsty Nolan, MS, is the Lead Training Manager for the Knowledge Center at Chaddock in Quincy, IL. She has worked with children and families at Chaddock for over 8 years, within Chaddock’s Outpatient Program, Chaddock’s Special Education School, Chaddock’s Residential Program, within various local school districts and through The Knowledge Center at Chaddock. Kirsty has trained and presented both nationally and throughout IL., on a range of topics including trauma-informed practices, early attachment and developmental trauma, sensory interventions and mindfulness.

TARGET AUDIENCE: Social Workers, Professional Counselors, Other Child Serving Professionals

COURSE OUTLINE/AGENDA:

4:00 – 4:10 PM The Cortex: A Reminder

4:10 – 4:20 PM Natural Consequences vs Punishment

4:20 – 11:50 PM The Components of Natural Consequences & Delayed Consequences

4:50 – 5:00 PM Questions/Discussion


LEARNING OBJECTIVES (As a result of this training, participants will be able to):

1. Describe the assumptions we have when working with the Cortex.

2. Explain the difference between a natural consequence and a punishment.

3. Define delayed gratification.

COURSE COMPLETION & CE INFO:

Participants need to sign in to the training at or before the start time, attend the entire training, sign out at the end of the training and complete the course evaluation to earn CE credit. Partial credit is not allowed. Certificates of completion will be emailed within 10 business days of course completion.


SOCIAL WORK

The Knowledge Center at Chaddock #1825, is approved as an ACE provider to offer social work continuing education by the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB) Approved Continuing Education (ACE) program. Regulatory boards are the final authority on courses accepted for continuing education credit. ACE provider approval period: 07/28/2023 – 07/28/2026. Social workers completing this course receive 1 continuing education credits.


PROFESSIONAL COUNSELING

The Knowledge Center at Chaddock has been approved by NBCC as an Approved Continuing Education Provider, ACEP No. 7252. Programs that do not qualify for NBCC credit are clearly identified. The Knowledge Center at Chaddock is solely responsible for all aspects of the programs.

1 CE credit hours are available for this workshop.

This is a free event so refunds do not apply. We reserve the right to cancel any training course, virtual or live, for any reason. Notice will be provided with the option to reschedule for a future course date if available or to receive a full refund of registration fees if TKC cancels a training program. TKC is not responsible for any expenses (including travel) incurred by registrants if a training program is canceled or you are otherwise unable to attend.
