What does resonance feel like in the body? Eleven of Boulder’s boldest choreographers answer that question in RESONANCE, a thrilling new multidisciplinary performance premiering January 30 & 31 at 7:30 p.m. and February 1 at 2:00 p.m at the Dairy Arts Center’s Gordon Gamm Theater. Featured works are created by Riley Bartlett, Cassy Clark, Angela Gumieniak, Alli Jones, Jeny Jones, Tanja London, Jesús Muñoz, Celia Grannum Perarnaud, Bridget Ryan, ShawnT Stone, and Betsy Tobin. Resonance is the moment something vibrates so deeply it calls up an image, a memory, a feeling you didn’t know was there. This show is about creating those moments together on stage and in the audience. From underground club styles to contemplative modern dance and cinematic shadow play, the program reflects the eclectic, fiercely collaborative spirit that has defined the Collective since 1994.
Founded by Naropa University faculty Diane Butler, Barbara Dilley, Carol McDowell, and Polly Motley, the Mariposa Collective has spent three decades nurturing experimental, community-driven performance in Boulder. A 501(c)(3) supported in part by the Boulder Arts Commission, the Collective also offers public classes, pop-up events, Open Arts Shares, and coLaboratory workshops year-round.
