On Saturday, May 4, 2024, from 9:00am-3:00pm ET at the Jefferson School African American Heritage Center in Charlottesville, The Memory Project at the University of Virginia (UVA) Karsh Institute of Democracy -- in partnership with the UVA School of Education; Center for Liberal Arts; Equity Center; Division for Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion; Center for the Study of Race & Law; Carter G. Woodson Institute for African-American & African Studies; and Center for Race & Public Education in the South -- will host “Resisting ‘Massive Resistance:’ Memory, Forgetting, and the Modern Education Rights Movement, 60 Years After Griffin v. Board, 70 Years After Brown v. Board.”
