About this Event
Join us to design three individual pieces of art that can be displayed in unison with each other as a triptych or individually.
If you want a great first time experience using resin, then this is the workshop for you. Our Creative Coach will walk you through every step of the process with a detailed demonstration of laying down your colours and torching your resin for different effects. You will learn about various pigments, pastes, mica powders and additives you can add to your resin to colour it and design a piece to match your decor or just your mood! You will be able to learn techniques that you can use resin with in your own home without purchasing a heat gun or other equipment. Learn what you can do with a can of paint and a piece of parchment paper to add movement to your artwork or how to manipulate your resin with just hot air and a straw!
Once our basic design is on our boards, we can then decorate with mirrored gravel, glass gems, metallic foils, shattered and reflective glass and glitters. You could even do an ocean scene if that's what you prefer using real sand and miniature shells and ocean critters!
We will have an opportunity to do a practice piece before we actually start on the 3-panel triptych in order to give you a chance to tweak your colour choices and to get familiar with how the resin moves on your boards. This is "Practice through Play" and has received rave reviews from previous participants who have attended in the past.
Resin is such a fluid and beautiful medium to learn and you will be amazed at what you end of up and also be completely inspired by others in the workshop with all the variety of ideas that each individual has to offer - and yes, even if you think YOU are NOT very crafty/creative!
All supplies are included in this workshop and there is a lot at your disposal. No previous experience with resin is necessary. Class number is limited and this is a NEW workshop never before offered so sign up quickly.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Resin takes a minimum of 12 hours to cure so you will not be permitted to take your board home with you but can make arrangements to pick it up the next day or at a time that is convenient.
Please dress in old clothing as resin is unforgiving but aprons and gloves are provided.
Refreshments such as coffee, tea, pop, water and assorted cookies are here for you but you can bring something of your own choice as well.
Registration: Preferred method is by etransfer directly to [email protected] or by using our ticketing agent, Eventbrite.
