About this Event
Location: DeKalb Patio
Pratt PublicSphere re-ignites the ongoing collaborative project of the PrattPublic Sphere (first installed in Spring 2023) by rebuilding and inviting cross-disciplinary collaborators to host community engagements. The geodesic domed ‘counter-classroom’ unites members of the community and brings together individuals who may not otherwise have an organic encounter. Working across disciplines of Architecture, Ecological Science, Industrial Design, and Fine Arts among others, we collectively generate a shelter on the patio of Pratt’s Main Campus that is open to the public. This community resilience event focuses on a Pratt Community participatory action to REinstall and RE-build the Geodesic Dome Pratt Public Sphere led by the Ecology for Architects students and Professor Rafael de Balanzo . As part of the Campus Climate Action Plan, the “Pratt Public Sphere” is an innovative counter-classroom space open to Pratt Institute’s community to host workshops, talks, public activations, neighbors, and visitors.
