🌿 Resilience for Appalachia: A Benefit Show & Herbal Medicine Drive for Hurricane Helene relief
Hurricane Helene has offered to be a catalyst to create deeper systems of resilience and mutual aid for each other as we navigate climate change and system collapse. Our hearts are feeling the grief of folks in Appalachia facing power outages, water shortages, housing insecurity, loss of income, and other infrastructure collapse. Come join us to build your own systems of resiliency through community singing, poetry, and herbal medicine. Proceeds from this event will go directly towards supporting hurricane relief in Appalachia (more info below).

🌀 ABOUT THE FACILITATORS & ORGANIZERS:
~ Community Song Facilitator: Max Ribner
Max is on the path of “Resilient Beings," a powerful community album that creates a collective experience where the audience becomes the orchestra. Max and the accompanying artists bridge the gap between the stage and the audience by offering themselves as an anchor and providing simple melodies to sing along with. The musicians are committed to being with what’s present in the moment and thrive off of audience participation - ‘you feed us and we feed you’. The journey is co-collaborative and infused with creative improvised instrumentals.
~ Community Song Facilitator: Sara Tone

You’ll often find her building musical expression into sonic reality through live looping, blending harmonies, beat box, and a quiver full of instruments. More than songs, there’s an intention and vibe created and held, a collective power of presence and gratitude that the this music emanates and amplifies, a prayer, a spell, a sonic stream to soak your soul.

🌀 ABOUT THE VENUE:
The Historic Alberta House is intended for all and is focused on elevating voices that have struggled for many years to be heard. Their mission is to reach and engage voices from the community that have been disproportionately impacted by Oregon’s social, economic, and racial injustices. Surrounded by and intertwined with the reminders of a complex history marked by vibrancy, resiliency, and ingenuity, as well as racism, exclusion, and trauma, the doors of this historic building are open for the community to explore.
