About this Event

RESILIENCE AND SUSTAINABILITY DIRECTORS PANEL

The American Planning Association Hawai‘i Chapter invites you to join us at the beautiful downtown Honolulu YWCA Laniākea for a lunch buffet and this special program featuring directors of state and county resilience and sustainability agencies. Remote access available only for off-island participants.

This moderated panel brings together the of the counties’ Resilience and Sustainability Departments, as well as the State Climate Commission to provide updates on their respective initiative and efforts, and to engage in topics and questions covering: Sea level rise, wildfire risk and planning, county/State efforts and updates to increase resiliency in operations, managed retreat, codes and code updates to foster resilience, strategies to leverage state or city funding for resilience against federal cuts, climate resilience/adaptation plans and implementation, and renewable energy implementation.

Check-in begins at 12:00pm. Chapter announcements will begin at 12:15pm and the panel presentation will begin by 12:30pm.

Buffet lunch includes, salads, rice, roasted vegetables, grilled chicken, steamed fish, dessert, and assorted drinks including iced tea, coffee, hot tea, and water.

AICP Members: This event will be submitted to APA for CM credits (1.5 credits). After attending the event, you should be able to register the CM credits.


Parking: Suggested parking at Ali‘i Place, located at 1099 Alakea Street (the building right next to the YWCA, mauka side). On weekdays, Ali‘i Place charges $3.00 for the first two hours, and then $1.50 for every hour thereafter. Metered parking may also be available behind ‘Iolani Palace. Sorry, validated parking is not available.
