We are pleased to welcome Professor Merja Stenroos from the University of Stavanger, who will present the research project LiTra, recently awarded the European Research Council’s most prestigious grant.The early history that shaped today’s European languages and cultures remains shrouded in mystery. Although recent genetic research has sparked new debates about population histories, it cannot provide insights into the languages spoken in the past. Language seems to vanish through time, with changes erasing all traces of earlier speech. However, not all is lost; residual forms persist, offering clues to reconstruct the past.
