The Northern Ireland Human Rights Commission (NIHRC) is delighted to invite you to the launch of its new research report ‘The Interaction between the EU Charter of Fundamental Rights and the general principles of EU Law with the Windsor Framework’. The event will take place on Thursday 12 September, 2.00 - 4.20pm at Ulster University, Belfast campus (in-person).
The event will be chaired by NIHRC Chief Commissioner, Alyson Kilpatrick, and will hear from the report's authors Professor Tobias Lock, Dr Eleni Frantziou, and Anurag Deb.
The authors will present their findings, which explore the continuing relevance of the EU Charter and EU general principles in Northern Ireland law, for the interpretation and implementation of obligations arising under the Windsor Framework, including the ‘no diminution’ of rights commitment under Article 2.
We will also hear from Hugh Mercer KC and Htaik Win, NIHRC solicitor on using the EU Charter in litigation in NI after Brexit, drawing on their experience to date and discussing the significance of recent judgments.
The event will take place as follows:

2.00 - 4.20pm - Presentations and opporuntity for discussion and Q&A.
