You’ll encounter Whitbourn’s Requiem with soprano saxophone offering hope that those who die in the Lord find eternal rest, and Amo by Nico Gutierrez who sets the tender poetry of his grandfather as he remembers lost loved ones in both sorrow and joy. The sonorous and dramatic A Child’s Prayer by James MacMillan is an aching tribute to schoolchildren who died tragically in a Scottish school shooting, while Rene Clausen’s In Pace offers a prayer of peace for those slain in the Holocaust 80 years ago, and Rupert Lang’s beautiful Kontakion reassures us that “to earth we shall return with an alleluia.”
