About this Event
WHO & WHAT: For our first film club of 2025, we’re celebrating the legendary Sister Nancy with a screening of Bam Bam: The Sister Nancy Story, directed by Camilla Hall.
This dynamic new documentary traces the story of the first female dancehall DJ and her iconic hit “Bam Bam”—a track that became a global anthem of resistance, sampled by artists from Lauryn Hill to Jay-Z. The film dives into Sister Nancy’s life, her battles in the industry, and her legacy as a pioneer in reggae and dancehall.
As always, we’ll follow the screening with an intimate, thoughtful conversation about the film, the music, and the power of Black women carving space in the culture.
