About this Event
RentSmart is a free tenant education designed to help prospective renters become informed, confident tenants. The course provides practical guidance on finding the right rental, understanding affordability, and navigating the application process. Participants learn about rental maintenance and repairs, effective communication with property managers and landlords, and how to understand rental agreements—from moving in to moving on.
RentSmart is a key part of the City of Grand Junction’s At Home in GJ program, which connects renters and landlords and supports stable housing. As a RentSmart tenant, you’ll have access to the Almost Home Guide, a free resource where participating landlords post available rental units every two weeks. Completing RentSmart may also help make your prospective landlord eligible for program incentives, expanding your housing options.
RentSmart and At Home in GJ work together to help you secure and maintain housing successfully.
RentSmart is a community partnership between the City of Grand Junction, Housing Resources of Western Colorado, Grand Junction Housing Authority, Center for Independence and many other local nonprofits, landlords, and community groups. Course and Materials were designed by the University of Wisconsin-Madison and adapted to local Colorado laws and resources.
The RentSmart class will be held at the Garden Village Community Building at 2601 Belford Ave Grand Junction, CO 81501, next to the playground.
