About this Event
Calling all "Rent-Heads"—there’s no day but today!
Free community dinner and movie night…
Dress in your best '90s grunge, bring a dish for our "La Vie Boehme" potluck, and get ready to dance and sing along to a not-so-classic holiday movie!
Loosely based on the 1896 opera La Bohème, Rent tells the story of a group of impoverished young artists struggling to survive and create a life in Lower Manhattan's East Village, in the thriving days of the bohemian culture of Alphabet City, under the shadow of HIV/AIDS.
Compass Community Center's Dylan Brooks, Director of HIV Prevention & Education, will join the evening to share information about HIV testing, health services, and counseling available through the Center. There will also be private rapid-result HIV testing available for attendees.
