Immerse yourself in the Renaissance era with an hour and a half lecture and drawing demonstration by international artist Hector Hernandez. Hernandez will discuss the tools and techniques utilized during this period, and the role Renaissance drawings served beyond being preparatory studies for paintings. A demonstration of these techniques will take place in the last half hour. Refreshments will be served near the end of the demo.

Born in Mexico, Hector Hernandez is a Latin American artist whose virtuoso career spans decades of dedicated practice and global recognition. With extensive formal training in the United States and Europe, Hernandez studied at some of world’s top art institutions, including the American Academy of Art and Atelier Neo Medici in the South of France. His mastery of a rare 15th Century oil painting technique - which is seldom taught and even more rarely practiced - sets his work apart and earned him international acclaim. Sometimes spending over 3,000 hours on a single painting, Hernandez uses the techniques of Renaissance Dutch and Italian Old Masters to achieve a profoundly intricate level of detail and an ethereal, glowing softness reminiscent of Da Vinci’s sfumato.
