REMINDER:Please join the Oklahoma Baptist State Convention Prison as we celebrate our 18th Annual Youth Awareness Program. This program focuses on front-end initiatives designed to help teach our children and youth about the importance of making wise choices.
It seems every time we turn on the television, radio, or look at the newspaper or social media there is news about our youth and some of it is negative. It is important to us that we help our youth not get involved in the criminal justice system.
Can you honestly say that your child is prepared for pressures from peers, sex, drugs, schools, family members, relationships, gangs, etc.? It is our goal to help our youth understand the importance of making wise choices and the consequences of making bad choices.
OBSC Prison Ministry feels if we do something on the front end to help our youth then maybe we won't have to work so hard on the back end trying to help them while in prison and with re-entry.
Our youth must understand that each choice they make may affect them now and/or later in life. A felony conviction lasts a lifetime. This program is for adults, youth, and children. We encourage parents and family participation. This is a FREE event and we would appreciate your presence. Donations are welcome.
Keynote Speaker: Rev. DeAndre (Mr. Langston) Hicks - Prospect Baptist Church - OKC. Other speakers include youth who are in the custody of the Office of Juvenile Affairs, youth who have been incarcerated, youth who have been in gangs, etc. Speakers will share their life experiences to help prevent others from making the same mistakes.
The Youth Awareness Program entitled “Choices” will be held Saturday, September 28, 2024, Networking 12:00 p.m. – 1:00 p.m. Program 1:00 p.m. Paradise Baptist Church 4617 N.E. 36th St., OKC, OK 73121. Vendors will be available to provide information.
