To help our volunteers plan accordingly, please register your interest if you wish to attend our Remembrance Sunday Service on Sunday 9th November 2025 at Breighton Airfield.Last year, we welcomed over 100 attendees, and we expect an even larger turnout this year. We kindly ask that only those who plan to attend register their interest.

On Sunday 9th November, we will hold our morning service to honour the brave men and women of the armed forces who fought to defend our freedom.
As part of the service, there will be a special aircraft poppy drop over the airfield.
RAF Breighton has a proud history. Built in 1941 and opened in January 1942, it was part of No. 1 Group, Bomber Command. Its first residents were 460 Squadron RAAF from Australia, flying Vickers Wellingtons, later upgrading to Avro Lancasters and Manchesters. The squadron served here with great courage until May 1943 before moving to RAF Binbrook. We are honoured to often welcome Australian visitors connected to 460 Squadron.
In June 1943, 78 Squadron RAF arrived, flying Handley Page Halifaxes. They carried out major bombing raids, including the attack on the Peenemünde rocket base and supported the D-Day landings in June 1944 by targeting enemy gun positions along the French coast.
