September 30 is the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, a time to honour survivors, remember the children who never returned home, and reflect on the history and lasting impact of residential schools. September is also the month when many children were taken from their families to begin the school year in residential institutions. This September, led by Kookum Karen, Grandmother-in-residence, students, staff and faculty were invited to reflect and remember by creating small orange origami shirts. This initiative concludes on September 29, 2025, from 3:00 - 4:00 p.m. with a Burning Ceremony - participants will have the opportunity to offer the paper shirts to the spirit with tobacco, love and gratitude in a short ceremony. All are welcome to attend. For questions, email [email protected]
