On April 19th, in celebration of Patriots Day, Historic Methuen will host the public for tours at Meeting House Hill Cemetery. The cemetery is located across the street from the former Holy Family Hospital. Come and explore the newly repaired and cleaned stones. The cemetery is normally locked so don’t miss this opportunity to explore the past. This quiet burial ground, surrounded by Edward Searles’ beautiful granite walls, is filled with intriguing gravestones of our city's founders. The headstones, some of the oldest in Methuen, were hand-carved by the likes of Benjamin Day and Robert Mulliken. An exhibit of Methuen’s American Revolution-era houses and the patriots buried at Meeting House Hill cemetery will be available.Historic Methuen will be on hand to guide you through and answer any questions. The cemetery will be open for viewing from 10 - 1 and weather permitting.
