Dear friends of George Crozier,Please join us at Crate59 for a gathering to remember and celebrate the life of George Crozier (June 1973 - January 2026).
The evening will feature a selection of George’s artwork, including paintings and sculptures spanning many years of his creative life. George expressed himself most fully through art, and we invite you to honour him by embracing the creativity, curiosity, and self-expression that brought him joy.
George’s work ranged from early, vibrant paintings of Cairns landscapes and sea life, to later pieces exploring environmental activism, climate change, and biodiversity. He was actively involved with local environmental groups such as CAFNEC and deeply passionate about the natural world.
In recent years, clay became a central medium for George through his work at the Cairns Potter’s Club, where he was known for pushing the boundaries of scale, form, and complex firing techniques. During his time studying at TAFE Queensland, he expanded into mediums such as lino print and woodblock, exhibiting widely across Cairns and surrounding regions. His lino print Happy Dog was featured on the cover of a TAFE art exhibition.
This is an open gathering and we kindly ask for your help in spreading the word and sending out invitations for us to reach a wider community of those who wish to gather and celebrate on this day.
Complimentary snacks will be provided. Please bring your own drinks; paper cups will be available.
We look forward to sharing this evening of remembrance, creativity, and connection.
