Remember Nature: Intra-action Exhibition Opening

Come join us at Art Gene for the opening of our latest exhibition, Remember Nature: Intra-action. It brings together the work of three residency artists. Maddi Nicholson has been working alongside 14 other galleries and selected artists to mark the 10th anniversary of Gustav Mertzger's call to action, 'Remember Nature!' and is showing resulting new work including 'Mother Nature Mailed ... and she's mad'.

Alistair Debling and Faye Matloub won Art Gene residencies in 2025 and have made work reflecting on how we can collaborate to reconnect to one another and our food systems. Alistair and Faye have been working closely with individuals from Barrow’s refugee and asylum-seeking communities and their work of these participants features in the exhibition.

Remember Nature: Intra-action explores how working peoples' histories, colonialism and industrialisation have contributed to a disconnection from the land - reducing it to resource, and erasing ecologies, separating humans from nature and the food producing environments we belong to. Intra-actions invites us to imagine more caring futures where people, place, and ecology are recognised as deeply interconnected - and to stand up for the land and life around us.
