Live & Unfiltered is a celebration of resilience, identity, and the unfiltered voices of marginalised communities across Meanjin and the Pacific diaspora. Channeling their lived experiences navigating race, cultural disconnection and marginalisation, each artist involved brings a unique cultural lens — from Pacific Islander and Māori roots to Torres Strait Islander, Blak Australian, and Italian-Australian identities, channelled into powerful artistic storytelling. This blend creates a deeply rich and layered expression of contemporary diverse creativity, and boldly embodies resistance against erasure. This show is about showing up for each other, building bridges and refusing to water down our truths. Featuring:
JJ4K, a Pacific Islander hip-hop artist, uses raw lyricism and mobster metaphors to tell stories of struggle, identity, and survival. His performance is fuelled by lived experience, wrapped in hard-hitting beats and poetic resilience.
JVYDEN, a Māori R&B/Soul artist, brings smooth melodies and emotionally-charged vocals that explore love, cultural belonging, and spiritual healing.
Bala Rontu, Torres Strait Islander reggae/afrobeat artist, delivers infectious rhythms and conscious messages, blending his roots with global sounds to uplift and connect.
Clinny P, an Australian/Italian pop-melodic rapper and 2025 Australian Idol contestant, offers a vibrant fusion of catchy hooks and heartfelt storytelling, proving that mainstream visibility and authenticity can go hand-in-hand.
Brayden Jay, a rising Australian hip-hop artist, rounds out the lineup with high-energy delivery and hard truths drawn from growing up between worlds.
The show opens with a powerful Welcome to Country performed by Black Deaths in Custody to honour First Nations voices and acknowledge the deep-rooted history of the land we stand on.
