Välkomna på boksläpp och svensk lansering av den efterlängtade poesisamlingen ”Songbook” av Joshua Idehen på Konsthall C!
Idehen är poet och historieberättare som bjuder på livsbejakande humanism och explosiv skaparkraft i musik och text. Spoken word artisten Joshua Idehen (UK) är numera bosatt i Sverige och sedan länge en viktig del av den engelska jazzscenen.
Genom att kritiskt undersöka kolonialism, maskulinitet, mental hälsa och olika sätt att läka, är hans författarskap en väsentlig provokation, en diasporisk dans, en comedy roast, en intervention… Ja, en kanonkula som ingen går säker från, allra minst han själv.

Boken består bl a av verser från Mercury-nominerade och MOBO-vinnande album från Sons of Kemet och The Comet Is Coming.
Idehen har bland annat samarbetat med de hyllade kollektiven Sons of Kemet och The Comet Is Coming, Poejazzi, Benin City, och även släppt EP med Flying Lotus producent Daedalus. Idehen uppträdde på Way Out West i Göteborg i somras.

Joshua Idehen’s collected works has been a long time coming. Songbook comprises verses from Mercury-nominated and MOBO-winning albums by Sons of Kemet and The Comet Is Coming, alongside watershed poems of spoken word legend, newly captured in book form. From Poejazzi and Benin City to a string of supreme collaborations, Idehen’s impact resonates far and wide across the landscapes of poetry and jazz/electronica.
Cross-examining colonialism, masculinity, mental health and ways of healing, his writing is an essential provocation, a diasporic dance, a comedy roast, an intervention, a cannonball from which no one is safe, least of all himself.
