Join us in celebration of our exhibition 'A Way of Life: The People behind St Giles Fair', with some fairground-inspired family activities.
About this Event

This is an activity adapted for families with members on the autistic spectrum or those who will benefit from engaging with the activity in a calmer space. Prebooking is essential due to the limited capacity of relaxed events.

Join us at MOX for a relaxed morning of family fun and crafts to celebrate A Way of Life:The People behind St Giles Fair, our new exhibition exploring the history of our local fun fair and the Showman's community. Learn about the history of the fantastic fairs and make a carousel craft to take home.

This craft is suitable for those aged 5-12, but all ages are welcome. Children must be supervised by an adult during the event.

The craft is self-led, so families are able to engage at their own pace. There will be no background music and a separate quiet space available. You may come and go at anytime. You will be provided with a visual story a week before the event to support your visit. If you have any specific questions regarding accessibility or just want to get in touch, please email Charlotte.

Our later session will be at increased capacity with background music.

Access:

There is step-free, level entry access to the Town Hall is via the entrance closest to Carfax (to the left of the main steps as you face the Town Hall). Inside the Museum, Museum Makers is accessible via a platform lift to the Galleries and then via stairs.

Accessible toilets are available in the Museum (close to Museum Makers) and in the Town Hall on the ground floor, before entering the Museum. Please contact the Museum team if you’d like to talk to a member of staff about your access requirements. Further access information can be found on our website: https://museumofoxford.org/plan-your-visit/access

Please be aware that photographs will be taken at this event for use in marketing. If you (or a member of your group) would prefer not to be photographed, please let a member of staff know during the event.
