Relationship Foundations Series: Emotional Regulation

In this class, we will explore how to develop a more grounded, compassionate relationship with our emotions within non-monogamous relationships. We will begin by building a shared understanding of emotional regulation by learning the difference between reacting and responding, and how to calm big feelings when they arise. From there, attendees will explore common emotional experiences in non-monogamy, including jealousy, envy, shame, guilt, and New Relationship Energy (NRE), and how to work with these emotions skillfully rather than being overwhelmed by them.
Participants will learn practical tools for identifying and naming emotions, understanding what our feelings are communicating, and challenging unhelpful self-talk with curiosity and self-compassion. We will also examine how to hold emotional boundaries: how to take responsibility for our own feelings without “bleeding” onto others or absorbing emotional energy that isn’t ours. Throughout the class, we will emphasize emotional literacy, nervous system regulation, and values-aligned responses as foundations for healthier communication and connection.
By the end of the class, attendees will leave with a personalized toolkit for regulating emotions, navigating relational triggers, and responding to challenges with greater clarity, resilience, and care, for themselves and for the people they are in relationship with.

Doors open at 6:30pm. Class starts at 7pm.

The Relationship Foundations Series is designed to provide competency in core relationship skills that are necessary to maintain successful meaningful relationships. By identifying the most prominent friction points in the practice of transitioning and practicing non-monogamy, the series seeks to provide attendees with the knowledge and practical skills to avoid roadblocks, move through discomfort, and build thriving relationships.
