In celebration of Benjamin Barson's new book, Brassroots Democracy: Maroon Ecologies and the Jazz Commons, we are hosting an evening of music and conversation exploring the legacies of Haitian music, language, and politics in New Orleans with Creole music by Leyla McCalla and Sunpie and the Louisiana Sunspots. Free and open to the public, but seating is limited. Please register so we can plan accordingly!
This event is a collaboration among the College of Liberal Arts at Tulane University, the New Orleans Foundation for Francophone Cultures (NOUS), the BK Historic House and Gardens, Twin Sisters Reunited (Haiti and New Orleans), and Collaborative Public Humanities in Action at the University of New Orleans, supported by the Mellon Foundation.
