Let's get outside! We'll take a field trip to Chicken of the Woods Farm, with Heart of Joy Learning. This trip is a foundation for a lifelong love of nature, learning, and personal growth.This adventure is designed to foster observation and a sense of responsibility while building resilience through a day full of physical activity. This trip offers a unique, hands-on, community service learning experience, incorporating science, art, creative writing, and practical life skills.
What to Expect (times are general ideas and fleixble based on the group):
10AM - 11:15 AM Farm Chores, Hands-on experience with daily farm tasks
11:30-12:15 PM
Outdoor Picnic & Nature Journaling Basics: Enjoy lunch (bring your own) while learning journaling fundamentals
12:30-1:45 PM
Guided Hike to Seneca Creek (30 mins each way) with some obstacles along the path; Nature Journaling at the Creek (observe aquatic life and plants, recording discoveries through drawings and writing)
1:45-2:15 PM
Hike Back & Wrap-up (Ending 2:30 PM)
Materials: All nature journaling supplies provided (small notebook, colored pencils, and a magnifying glass)
Dress appropriately for the weather– we meet rain or shine! The weather may be warm enough to get in the water.

Parking directions:
1. Park on the asphalt alongside Pulver Road. Do not go up the street! You will see other cars parked alongside the road.
2. I will be waiting for you at the bottom of Pulver Road, right by the mailbox. We will walk up to the farm together as one group.
