One-Woman Show “Regal: The American Black Woman” Pays Poetic Tribute to the Power, Beauty, and Resilience of Women of Color

Snellville, Georgia — Prepare to be moved, inspired, and empowered by Regal: The American Black Woman, a dynamic one-woman show that offers a stirring musical and poetic journey through the lives of Black women in America—from the 17th century to the present day. Written and performed by acclaimed artist Paula R. Amor, this groundbreaking performance reclaims the narrative and celebrates the unbreakable spirit, creativity, and royal lineage of women of color.

Blending spoken word, soul-stirring melodies, and transformative storytelling, Regal transports audiences through time—portraying Black women as slaves, abolitionists, activists, jazz legends, politicians, and matriarchs. Rather than dwelling on the sensationalism of slavery, this performance chooses to uplift and honor the wholeness of the Black woman—as healer, nurturer, visionary, and Queen.

“This show is about truth, beauty, and reverence,” says Paula R. Amor. “It’s a love letter to our mothers, our ancestors, and every woman walking in her power today.”

Regal offers more than a performance—it is a celebration of legacy, a reclaiming of identity, and a poetic honoring of the lives that continue to shape the cultural and political fabric of America.

About the Artist Paula R. Amor is an American author, playwright, producer, creative director, and spoken word artist. Creative Director of The Greenhouse Project, a nonprofit dedicated to mental wellness and artistic expression, Paula’s work centers on healing, advocacy, and storytelling through the Black feminine lens.
