Join us to celebrate World Refugee Week 2024. This year's theme is is “Our Home” - from the places we gather to share meals to our collective home, planet earth: everyone is invited to celebrate what our Our Home means to them. We're thrilled to welcome Bristol-based Baraka - a unique combination of musicians from Ghana, Senegal, Dominica, Germany, Trinidad and Southern Ireland. Each musician contributes his individual sound and style – Reggae featuring a Kora and Djembe, Township with a Calypso bassline, Hilife with Blues Harmonica, Soca with Balafon and Flute. Baraka features musical collaborations that you are unlikely to hear with any other band!
Plus Diabel Cissokho - singer, songwriter, kora player, multi-instrumentalist, producer - a creative musical dynamo emerging out of West Africa.
There'll also be craft and food stalls with Ukrainian and Syrian produce, and many community stalls.
Following from the success of last year, it will be a fun day and evening for all the family.
The event itself is free although we do ask for donations to see the live music - tickets here https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/manage/events/904645217197/details
We'd like to thank Cornwall Council and Exeter University for their support.
