About the artists:
Patrice Naimbana - is an actor, storyteller and African performing artist, originally from Sierra Leone. He has worked extensively in theatre, film, radio and TV, with some of the UK's top Directors: Steven Berkoff, Adrian Noble, Michael Boyd, Kathryn Hunter and leading decolonial thinkers, Rolando Vasquez and Walter Mignolo. Patrice is currently appearing as the Duke of Winchester in Netflix show The Irregulars. As an Animateur and Performing Artist, Patrice has been facilitating Tribal Soul Arts since 1991 - A laboratory for African Diaspora performance aesthetics exploration and critical dialogue. It was initiated in response to the sparse opportunity for theatre training that reflected Diaspora Heritage.
Bumi Thomas - is a contemporary Scottish Nigerian singer-songwriter whose ethereal voice stokes the soul transcendentally. Her acoustic and evocative style is inspired by her multicultural heritage expressed visually and sonically as invocations of non-linear identity. 'I tell stories about movement, migration, displacement, joy and humanity.’ Her music combines jazz, high-life rhythms, palmwine grooves, reggae and blues, infused with folk and delivered with soul. Rich in texture, stimulating lyrics, haunting melodies and raw emotion.
Her latest EP 'Broken Silence' (2020) reached No 1 on the UK Itunes RnB charts and was described as 'Strikingly original' by London Jazz News, 'Visceral and Timely' by The Sunday Times. The single 'Black Child' was featured on BBC Radio 4 Loose Ends. Broken silence is Bumi's
