An engaging discussion on the challenges of ensuring and maintaining migrant and refugee health across borders in a globalized world.
About this Event

For the past 5 years, GlobeMed at GWU has had the opportunity to host a HillTop Conference in support of our partner organization, Set Her Free. The mission of this conference is to raise both funds and awareness for Set Her Free as well as a specific, relevant global health issue of GlobeMed’s choosing.

This year, we will celebrate GlobeMed at GWU’s 6TH ANNUAL HILLTOP CONFERENCE on April 26th & April 27th! At each conference, prominent global health experts are invited to speak on a specific health topic that GlobeMed at GWU feels is vital for future public health professionals to have knowledge of. Throughout the two-day event, attendees will have the opportunity to listen to the speakers, ask questions, attend workshops, and network with like-minded students. The topic for this year’s conference is Refugee and Migrant Health: Navigating Challenges in a Mobile World.

Specifically, this event will engage our panelists in a discussion surrounding the challenges of ensuring and maintaining migrant and refugee health across borders in an increasingly globalized world, addressing the issue’s complex set of contributing factors and the need for inclusion in conversations on such an important topic. Drawing panelist speakers from throughout the DMV area, with a wide range of experiences and expertise, this conference will serve as a breeding ground for discussion on the links between human rights, refugee health, as well as international governmental and non-governmental cooperation. In addition to a lively keynote speaker, panel, and Q&A segments, the event will also include a series of skills-based workshops, a walk-through exhibit on the history of our partner organization Set Her Free, and a career development segment led by GlobeMed alumni.

This event will be held on the evening of Friday, April 26th from 4:00 to 7:30 pm in the Milken Convening Center; on the morning of Saturday, April 27th from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm in the Elliott City View Room; and finally, on the evening of Saturday, April 27th from 2:00 to 5:30 pm in the University Student Center. For a detailed schedule of the event, complete with specific locations and times, please refer to the agenda listed below.

A spread of hors d’oeuvres and mocktails will be supplied on Friday evening, along with a light breakfast provided on Saturday morning. We hope to see you there, in support of GlobeMed and Set Her Free!

The dress code for the event is cocktail attire on Friday evening and business professional attire on Saturday. Thank you in advance for your compliance.

This event will abide by the GW COVID-19 Guidelines at the time of the event.
