About this Event

This six-day retreat offers a unique opportunity to deepen your practice through meditation, movement, silence, and community in one of the most awe-inspiring landscapes on earth. Set between the sacred lands of and the beauty of the ocean, we will gather in stillness, practice in nature, and open ourselves to both inner quiet and joyful connection.

Unlike many traditional silent retreats, this gathering balances structured practice with spacious free time — allowing you to rest, reflect, and integrate at your own pace. Participants will move between silence and mindful sharing, guided practices and personal exploration, grounding in both inner work and the powerful energy of place.

  • Sitting Meditation (guided and silent)
  • Walking Meditation along trails and beaches
  • Movement Practices: yoga, tai chi, chi gong
  • Sound Bath & Yoga (guided by guest teachers)
  • Chanting & Eating Meditation
  • Dharma-inspired Talks & Small Group Q&A (not tradition-bound)
  • Optional 1-on-1 sessions with teachers

  • Sunrise Meditation at the volcano Kīlauea 
  • Beach Meditation at sunrise and sunset
  • Optional Stargazing under clear night skies
  • Art & Journaling Space, with a retreat-specific Sanctuary journal
  • Closing Circle to transition gently from silence into shared community

Daily Rhythm

Mornings open with sunrise meditation, followed by quiet time, sitting or walking meditation, and mindful breakfast. Midday includes movement, sound healing, or small-group reflection. Afternoons hold space for silent sitting, walking, or free time for personal rest and integration. Evenings include community dinners, talks, optional stargazing, or restorative practices such as Yoga Nidra.


Arrival & Departure

NOTE: Hilo Airport is closest. Transportation will be provided to and from Hilo Airport to the retreat center.

  • Day 1: Arrival, settling in, orientation, land acknowledgment, and intention-setting circle.
  • Days 2–5: Full days of practice, movement, silence, and exploration.
  • Day 6: Sunrise meditation, closing circle, breakfast, and departure.

This retreat is an invitation: to rest, to listen deeply, to connect with land and self, and to return home with renewed clarity, balance, and joy.


COST: $1000 - $3000 (Limited scholarships for social justice advocates and public defenders)

Deposit: $400.

Final payment due by March 30, 2026.

Includes accommodations, meals, transportation on the Big Island, 2 sound healing sessions, yoga classes, art supplies, and sacred experiences.

Does not include air-travel to/from Hawai’i.

Teachers

This sacred journey is lovingly curated by these three wahine, guided by aloha, ancestral listening and deep respect for the healing energy held in the ‘āina.

Caroline Durham has led wellness trainings and retreats for close to 20 years. A reiki worker, mindfulness coach, dharma teacher and wellness practitioner, Caroline has developed a comprehensive, thoughtful approach to understanding and resolving the impact of compassion fatigue and second-hand trauma. Her Buddhist studies in the lineage of Thich Nhat Hahn, Insight Meditation and her studies in New Thought inform her mindfulness practice. With almost thirty years of working as a public defender, she brings a unique experience to designing meaningful experiences to bring rejuvenation, restoration and re-energizing.


Richelle Donigan

Richelle Evelyn Donigan is a masterful Transformation Guide, Life Coach, Yoga Instructor, Author, and Speaker. She has been in the work and study of transformation for more than 40 years. She has studied and practiced under the direct guidance of Gurumayi Chidvilasananda of the SYDA Yoga Lineage, Mary Morrissey of Life Mastery Institute, Thich Nhat Hanh, global spiritual, poet and activist. Richelle has an extraordinary gift for creating safe and empowering spaces for all people. She is passionate about bringing these extraordinary, ancient practices to communities that have been traditionally underserved. Richelle’s Classes and Vision Workshops are life-changing. You will walk out with powerful clarity and strategies to create a life that you absolutely LOVE. A consummate teacher, Richelle embodies wellness and is dedicated to uplifting community with the profound healing practices of Yoga & Vision.


Alicia Sunflower Rose

Sunflower is committed to being a part of the spiritual evolution of humanity and the cultural revolution of the Earth. During this retreat the sound healing sessions are led by her, integrating to help us to face the truth of our personal and collective shadows, and to resurrect the golden shadow of our long suppressed and forgotten Truth as Source Consciousness. She engages in sacred activism through her social artistry and play her part in helping humanity heal from the traumas we have been repeating for thousands of years. She does so with the full Joy and Love of her Spirit.
