About this Event
Too often Christians and churches are too content with too little of what God longs to be for and give to his people. We often think the only question we need to consider is whether our beliefs and practices are biblical or not. That’s important, to be sure, but we also want to consider whether or not we’re simply missing things. We want to make sure we’re alert and attentive to the full range of teaching and instruction, formation and transformation that God aims to provide through his Word for his Church. In this day conference we’ll explore various facets of how we might more fully pursue wholeness by attending more consistently to the whole counsel of God.
Lectures will address (1) the discipline of attention and the call to wholeness, (2) wholeness and the facets of discipleship, and (3) wholeness and the full canon of scripture.
As for the evening lecture earlier in the week, titled “The Gospel in the Present Tense,” we’ll explore ways in which Christians can be tempted to miss the whole range of the gospel promise by tending only to its past and future tenses and missing the life-giving pledge it offers for us today. We’ll explore Acts 1-2 to help guide our path.
