About this Event

“Reflection of Our Time”

“Our time” can mean the time of the past, present, or future. Reflection is not purely retrospective; reflection can be a means for us to assess our present and plan for our future. Through the works of Britten, Morlock, Henze, and Hearne, we see through their historical lenses: their reflections on different times, spaces, events, traumas and emotions. Ironically, while these pieces reflect the past events, they also implore us to reflect on our present society. We will be premiering two compositions featuring Amy Cruz as our narrator. The concert will be held at Saint Paul the Apostle Catholic Church (10750 Ohio Ave) on April 27th, @7:30pm. ADMISSION BY DONATION.

Exilio

Exilio, founded by Koji Sakano and Ann Chen, is an a cappella octet comprised of singers from the University of Southern California (USC) Thornton School of Music. The name “Exilio” is derived from the Latin words, “ex ilio”, which mean “from Troy”; and “exilio” which means “to spring forth.” The group is dedicated to featuring music composed by marginalized and underrepresented composers throughout history, as well as ascendant composers.

Adoro

Adoro Ensemble is an LA-based vocal music ensemble established in 2022 by Artistic Director Joung-A Monica Yum. Adoro is dedicated to preserving and celebrating the art of vocal harmony and storytelling through the human voice.
