About this Event
Join local artist and author Patrice Vecchione for day devoted to expanding and celebrating your creative self. We’ll focus on the year we’re nearly turning the corner on to reflect, consider, pause, and create.
Patrice will begin by leading us through a collage making process. Collage is a democratic art form—you take images that you or others have previously created and put them together in new arrangements to create new pictures. Once we’ve completed the collages, we’ll turn to writing in response to them. All of this in an unhurried, supportive, inspired environment.
This is a workshop for those who see themselves as artists and writers and—equally—for those who don’t. Each participant will receive most materials to create their collage including mat board, background papers, glue, a selection of images and embellishments, and varnish.
Please bring old magazines, any images you might wish to include in your collage, small 2 and 3-d objects such as shells, frames, postage stamps, ribbon, and two pairs of scissors—a small and a larger straight-edge pair.
Fee & Materials: $200 for a day of creativity with most materials provided and a delicious lunch!
Materials include mat board, glue, tools (except for straight-edged scissors which participants need to provide for themselves), a selection of images from old magazines (you can also bring your own), background papers, cutting boards, decorative edging scissors, glitter, ribbon and trim, various embellishments, and a pot of varnish for each participant.
Lunch includes Roasted Poblano Bisque or Butternut Squash Soup, Taco Salad of Organic greens, red onion, fresh crisp white corn, tomato, cucumber, and avocado dressing with sliced roasted chicken OR grilled tofu. Queso Fresco on the side

Patrice Vecchione is the author of two books of poetry, three nonfiction books, and the editor of many anthologies for young people and adults. A collage artist, her work has appeared on book covers, and her show Imagination Migration is up at Gabriella Cafe until December 18. For nearly 50 years, Patrice has led creative writing, poetry and collage workshops along the Central Coast.
