Planning for a Successful Anesthetic Event

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION:
This lecture will guide the veterinary anesthetist from their initial evaluation of the patient to the point of developing an anesthetic plan. We will discuss topics like understanding signalment and temperament, alleviating fear, anxiety and stress, preventing nausea and vomiting, and considering potential complications pertaining to specific patient examples.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES:
Attendees will be able to immediately use this information in their everyday workflow, as they evaluation patients presenting to their clinics for anesthetic procedures.
- Learners will gain critical thinking skills necessary to discern potential risk factors for specific patients. Understanding potential risks pertaining to specific patient needs will help to prevent complications or potential errors.
- Veterinary technicians will be empowered members of their patientsβ veterinary care team, as they will be able to participate actively in planning for anesthetic events for their patients.
