An extraordinary evening with extraordinary stories.

ReelPeople: UP Abilities, in partnership with The UP Experience, features presentations from three extraordinary experts that will open a window into the world of disabilities with intimacy and urgency.

Speaker Name: Dr. Jennifer Arnold, MD, MSc

Dr. Jennifer Arnold is currently an attending neonatologist and Program Director of Immersive Design Systems at Boston Children's Hospital. She is an experienced neonatologist, medical educator, healthcare advocate, and simulation researcher passionate about delivering high-quality patient care through innovation, technology, and effective debriefing. Dr. Arnold has a rare type of dwarfism called Spondyloepiphyseal Dysplasia Type Strudwick, which involved more than 30 orthopedic surgeries, and she is also an 8-year cancer survivor. Dr. Arnold and her family are featured on TLC's docu-drama, The Little Couple, which follows their personal and professional lives for 14 seasons.

Speaker Name: John Bramblitt

John Bramblitt is a visually impaired artist who has designed artwork for numerous magazine covers and major film productions. John is the subject of the award-winning documentary shorts "Line of Sight” and “Bramblitt.” He has received three Presidential Service awards for his innovative multi-sensory art workshops and was named a Cultural Ambassador for the US. He currently works as a museum consultant developing programs that are designed to include all abilities. John’s book, Shouting in the Dark, is the story of his life, his journey navigating through this new territory of blindness, and how he ultimately rekindles his joy, passion, and relationships through art.

Speaker Name: Cara E. Yar Khan

Cara E. Yar Khan grew up playing sports and dancing. But in her late twenties, she began to experience a series of inexplicable falls. By age 30, Cara had been diagnosed with Hereditary Inclusion Body Myopathy (HIBM), a recessive muscle wasting condition that affects all 650 skeletal muscles. Refusing to be deterred, Cara became the Disability Focal Point for UNICEF and worked in nine post-conflict countries. When her disease progressed, she moved to the US and became an international human rights advocate promoting the inclusion of people with disabilities within all facets of society.
