This course will explain what Type 2 Diabetes is, how you can reduce and how to manage the risk of developing the disease, through healthy eating and being active.

Diabetes can be prevented or controlled with behavioral changes. This course will focus on helping you to develop healthy lifestyle changes that will reduce or remove your risk to type 2 diabetes. The sessions will promote awareness through easy to follow and practical advice. Topics covered will include:

• What is diabetes
• Behavior changes
• Healthy eating (sugars, fibre, fats)
• Reading food labels
• Benefits of activity
• Hydration
• Learners will also receive takeaway literature, healthy eating recipes and signposting to reputable websites and resources to sustain their changes.

What will learners achieve by the end of the course?

• Increase knowledge of type 2 diabetes and healthy eating
• Able to make informed healthy lifestyle choices
• Reduced risk or control of type 2 diabetes

What skills or knowledge do learners already need to have to attend the course?

• No formal skills or knowledge is required
