About this Event
Pleasure is more than a fleeting feeling—it’s a key to healing, self-discovery, and connection. Yet, trauma can create barriers that make pleasure feel inaccessible or unfamiliar. This class is your opportunity to reclaim pleasure as your own, in ways that feel safe, meaningful, and uniquely yours.
We’ll start by discussing the healing power of pleasure and how it can transform both your relationship with yourself and with others. You’ll learn about responsive desire and desire variability, concepts that illuminate how your body and mind experience intimacy. By understanding these natural patterns, you’ll begin to let go of any shame or confusion surrounding your desires and open yourself up to new possibilities for connection.
Next, we’ll dive into discovering what truly brings you joy—not just sexually but in your everyday life. Together, we’ll identify the sources of pleasure that resonate most deeply with you, whether that’s a favorite activity, a sensory experience, or a type of connection. We’ll also explore new avenues you may want to try, creating a roadmap to a life more filled with delight and curiosity.
Through a mix of discussions and exercises, you’ll practice tools for ongoing consent, communication about desires and boundaries, and ways to engage with both sexual and emotional intimacy. With patience and self-compassion as your guides, you’ll leave with a deeper understanding of pleasure as a practice and a birthright.
What you’ll gain from this class:
- Insight into responsive desire and how it can transform intimacy.
- Clarity on your favorite sources of pleasure and ones you’d like to explore.
- A framework for experiencing joy in daily life, not just in the bedroom.
- Practical communication tools for discussing desires and boundaries.
- Gentle practices to reconnect with pleasure, at your own pace.
Note: This is the fourth class in the “Moving Through Trauma to Achieve Pleasure in Sex, Relationships, and Life” 5-class series. Each class stands alone, but together they create a powerful pathway to healing and growth.
Your Instructor
Marissa Zumbo (HSET, CSE) is sex educator and intimacy coach. After her own healing journey following a sexual assault, she realized how ill-equipped most people are to address sexual roadblocks. Overall, she specializes in helping individuals heal, rediscover their sexuality, and embrace joy.
Through her work, she empowers people to deepen their relationships with their bodies, develop self-compassion, and live pleasure-filled lives. Her mission is to guide those on a path of healing and self-discovery to cultivate greater awareness and authenticity in their sexuality and relationships.
