Join us for an evening presentation by Dr. Tim Fedak, Curator of Geology of the Nova Scotia Museum, as he discusses a lost fossil site in the Cliffs of Fundy.
In 1842, famed geologist Charles Lyell visited Nova Scotia and documented a fossil site near the Folly and Debert River — its exact location lost to time. Drawing on Lyell’s notes and historic maps, Fedak has launched new fieldwork to uncover the site and its 300-million-year-old marine fossils.
This presentation connects past and present science, exploring how the Cliffs of Fundy UNESCO Global Geopark tells a world-class story of Earth’s deep history, the breakup of Pangaea, and Mi’kmaw cultural heritage — all shaped by the world's highest tides.
Admission by donation or free to CHS members.
