The American Red Cross is hosting a blood drive at Medical City McKinney, 4500 Medical Center Drive, on Monday, September 27, from 9:30 a.m. – 3 p.m. The Red Cross will have its mobile unit parked in front of the hospital.
Donors can help as many as three different people with just one donation. Individuals who give blood assure an adequate supply is available for use in trauma cases and surgeries and for patients with blood disorders, cancer and other conditions.
The Red Cross is testing blood donations for COVID-19 antibodies. The test may indicate if the donor’s immune system has produced antibodies to this coronavirus, regardless of whether an individual developed COVID-19 symptoms. COVID-19 antibody test results will be available within one to two weeks in the Red Cross Blood Donor App or donor portal at RedCrossBlood.org.

Potential donors must be at least 16 years old, weigh a minimum of 110 pounds, and be in good general health. People who present to give blood should eat a nourishing meal before donating and must bring a photo ID. To protect Red Cross staff and donors' health and safety, it is important that individuals who do not feel well or believe they may be ill with COVID-19 postpone donation. Masking is required.
