As of September 1st, 2021, The Hamilton Live will requires all patrons aged 12 years old or older to show proof that they have received at least two doses of the COVID-19 vaccine before they are allowed entry. RED BARAAT
In it’s 10th year as a multi-city annual festival, Red Baraat Festival of Colors is an immersive celebration through music, visuals and dance. Bringing together what NPR has called “the best party band in years,” with a montage of classic Bollywood visuals, a showcase of exceptional South Asian artists, Red Baraat celebrates the Indian holiday, Holi, through communal revelry.
Traditionally, Holi is marked by public gatherings of families and strangers sharing songs, dance, and the exchange of ‘colors’. It signifies the victory of good over evil, the arrival of spring, and for many, a festive day to meet others, play and laugh, forget and forgive, and repair ruptured relationships.
Red Baraat Festival of Colors debuted in 2012 at a sold out Le Poisson Rouge in New York City and then expanded to over a dozen cities in the United States. Bandleader and dhol player, Sunny Jain, curates a night of music highlighting the South Asian Diaspora through a diverse range of styles. Past festivals included DJ Rekha, Vidya Vox, Falu, Heems (Das Racist/Swet Shop Boys), Radhe Radhe: Rites of Holi (a film by the late, award-winning filmmaker, Prashant Bhargava, with score by Grammy-nominated composer, Vijay Iyer), Vidya Vox and so many more.
This year’s festival will visit New York City, Boston, Washington D.C., Philadelphia and South Orange, NJ and will feature Indian electronica singer and violinist, Rini, and her band, and Red Baraat.
Rini
Leading an international cadre of musicians, New York based, Chennai born singer, composer and violinist Harini “Rini” Raghavan creates her own version of Indian electronica. Harini draws from her formal training in Carnatic music and work at Berklee College of Music in Electronic Production to bring together sounds and music of her birthplace in India and her home in the US. An experienced performer and recording artist, she has recorded and performed with Grammy winning composers A.R.Rahman, Bill Whelan and the renowned Israeli Singer-Songwriter Idan Raichel, headlining prestigious festivals and venues in US and India, including Boston Symphony Hall, Lincoln Center, Beacon Theatre and the United Nations General Assembly. Rini has released three EP's, 2 albums and a single worldwide on Spotify, Google Play, Amazon and other digital outlets to critical acclaim, including a feature in Rolling Stone India, New York Music Daily, Republic of Jazz and World Music Central.
