About this Event

Want to engage a wider range of volunteers? Looking to recruit your first heritage volunteers? This session is for you!

About the workshop
Join us on for an interactive workshop delivered by Tempo. Together we’ll look at practical ways to recruit and retain volunteers, create mutually beneficial opportunities, open new pathways for local people to connect with heritage, and explore how time credits can support volunteer engagement.

Tempo will share tools for building strong volunteer programmes and tackling barriers, and update on their work to support heritage volunteering in Medway.

This session is a mixture of practical excercises, presentations, Q&A and discussion. The workshop is designed for anyone who works with volunteers in heritage or who is looking to start.

About the Medway Heritage Place programme

In November 2023, The National Lottery Heritage Fund named Medway as one of 9 places who will benefit from £200 million of investment as part of their 'Heritage Places' initiative. The initiative responds to local need and opportunity, supporting places to use heritage to build pride in place, inspire local communities and power regeneration. Find out more about the Medway Heritage Place programme here.

The Medway Heritage Place programme is made possible with The National Lottery Heritage Fund. Thanks to National Lottery players, we are able to bring Medway’s stories to life in new ways for new audiences.

Other sessions
We are running a series of free skills development workshops throughout 2025 and 2026. More workshops will be announed throughout the year. Explore the full programme of Medway Heritage Place skills development sessions here.

The workshops have been developed based on topics suggested by Medway’s heritage community. If you have an idea for a workshop, please email us at [email protected].
