About this Event
Dr Michael Short, Associate Professor in Planning and Heritage at the Bartlett School of Planning (UCL) and SAVE Britain's Heritage, explore the challenges facing the historic environment in Sunderland. Drawing on a range of recent case studies from the 1970s Civic Centre facing imminent demolition, to the grade II listed Hutchinson's Buildings, Michael discusses conservation in a context of historical weak investment, pressure for regeneration, and conflicts over the value and significance of the city's heritage.
