Join us for the third meeting of the Reconciliation Reading Group, our ongoing project to promote informed action toward Reconciliation. We will discuss "When the Pine Needles Fall: Indigenous Acts of Resistance" by Katsi’tsakwas Ellen Gabriel with Sean Carlton: a chronicle by Gabriel, the Haudenosaunee spokesperson “and one of the most important Land Defenders of our time,” of the so-called Oka Crisis, Canada’s violent siege of Kanehsatà:ke and Kahnawà:ke in the summer of 1990.
You can find more information about the book on the publisher's website: https://btlbooks.com/book/when-the-pine-needles-fall
All are welcome to join us at Macaulay House (35 Church Street, Picton) on November 12 from 6:30 – 8:30. Ideally participants will have read the book.
This is a free-of-charge community event jointly sponsored and hosted by County Museums and The Prince Edward County Public Library. This month’s discussion is co-facilitated by Jessica Chase and Jane Macdonald.
