Demystifying trauma & treatment for inclusive Integrated Care
About this Event

We warmly invite you to attend the CCQ Clinical Society event in Bundaberg, in October:

‘Recognising Trauma-Related Disorders: Demystifying trauma & treatment for inclusive Integrated Care’.

This topic aims to strengthen how local health professionals work as interdisciplinary teams to support people living with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. This includes building awareness of evidence-based, interdisciplinary care models and demystifying innovative treatment methods for inclusive integrated care.

CCQ will be joined at this Clinical Society by Professor Alain Brunet & Trish Wilson from the National PTSD Research Centre at the University of Sunshine Coast, Thompson Institute.

This Clinical Society event will follow a format designed to enhance interaction and collaboration between local healthcare professionals and services. The key collaborative piece of these clinical society evenings will be a group learning experience, adopting a panel format for discussion of PTSD within the local context.

This event is CPD accredited, with RACGP & ACRRM points for GPs.

This is a catered event including dinner. Please register to inform us of any dietary requirements.

The agenda for the evening will include:

• Overview of treatment guidelines.

• Presentations by two principal speakers from the Thompson Institute focusing on trauma, PTSD and best-practice management.

• Update from the Mental Health Team regarding the reform and regional access to services.

• Discussion panel with a focus on the local PTSD care system.

• Networking with other health professionals and PTSD care experts.

Learning objectives:

• Identify diagnostic criteria for trauma related disorders and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder.

• Identify best-practice care for people who have experienced trauma and for trauma related conditions including PTSD.

• Examine the Initial Assessment and Referral (IAR) Initiative by CCQ for enhancing holistic mental health assessments among GPs and health professionals.

• Describe the principles and applications of reconsolidation theory in therapeutic interventions for PTSD.

• Identify the local healthcare options and research for people experiencing trauma and PTSD including the work by the Thompson Institute and National PTSD Research Centre.
