Join us on Saturday for Newcastle/Gateshead’s annual Reclaim the Night – a powerful evening of solidarity, protest and empowerment. Together we will reclaim our streets, speak out against sexual harassment, and demand an end to violence against women and girls. Bring your placards, whistles, friends and family and make your voices heard.March route
6pm: Assemble - Bigg Market (women only)
6.15pm: March through city centre
6:30pm: Accessible march (join main parade at Quayside)
7pm: Rally at Baltic Square (open to people of every gender and all ages welcome.)
This year’s march is open to cis women, trans women and non-binary people who feel that women’s spaces are right for them. Children, including boys up to the age of 14, are also welcome. We recognise that some women may need to attend with male PAs or carers, and in these circumstances these men may join the march to ensure equal access. We ask that all who support Reclaim the Night respect our call for a women-only march.
The full march route (0.9 miles) will begin at the Bigg Market, moving along Highbridge, Grey Street, Dean Street, Side, Sandhill, the Quayside, across the Gateshead Millennium Bridge and finishing at Baltic Square. A shorter and more accessible route (0.5 miles) will assemble at the Sandhill/Quayside junction behind the Hard Rock Café next to the large NE1 plant pots from 6.15pm. This will go along the Quayside, across the Millennium Bridge and finish at Baltic Square. If you would like to join the shorter route, please contact us in advance.
We want everyone attending TUC events to have a safe and enjoyable experience. If you require any adjustments or assistance to take part in this event, please email [email protected]
