Partners in life and in art, guitarists Isabella Selder and Santiago Molina Gimbernat met while studying at the Mozarteum University in Salzburg. United by their passion for chamber music and their commitment to exploring projects beyond the conventional repertoire, they founded the Molina Guitar Duo in 2017. Their diverse programmes are distinguished by original arrangements and an interdisciplinary fusion of literature and music. Today, the Molina Guitar Duo is recognised as one of the most promising ensembles on the guitar scene, and they have been praised by the music-critics for their “passionate, narrative music-making and amazing effectiveness in ensemble playing.” The Molina Guitar Duo makes its Cyprus debut as part of the 19th Guitar Festival EGTA 2025, organised in collaboration with the Pharos Arts Foundation, in a programme that showcases the expressive and virtuosic possibilities of the guitar duo, featuring a diverse selection of works that highlight the guitar’s versatility, blending tradition with innovation in a compelling musical dialogue. The recital will take place on Saturday 26 April 2025, at The Shoe Factory, Nicosia / 8:30pm.

Partners in life and in art, guitarists Isabella Selder and Santiago Molina Gimbernat met while studying at the Mozarteum University in Salzburg. United by their passion for chamber music and their commitment to exploring projects beyond the conventional repertoire, they founded the Molina Guitar Duo in 2017. Their diverse programmes are distinguished by original arrangements and an interdisciplinary fusion of literature and music. Today, the Molina Guitar Duo is recognised as one of the most promising ensembles on the guitar scene, and their debut album, Paris!, released on the Aurea Vox label, has received high praise from music critics. Alongside their active performing careers, they established the Gitarrenstudio Friedberg, where they pass on their expertise to the next generation of guitarists.
Isabella Selder was born in Friedberg, Bavaria, and pursued her studies in Weimar, Barcelona, and Salzburg, where she earned a Master of Arts degree. A laureate of several international competitions, she has won awards at the IX Concurso Norba Caesarina in Cáceres and the XVIII Festival Internacional de Guitarra in Coria, Spain. In addition to her career as a soloist and as part of the Molina Guitar Duo, Isabella has served as a lecturer at the Department of Music Education at the University of Augsburg. She is a sought-after juror for national and international competitions and is deeply committed to pedagogy, regularly giving masterclasses and ensemble coaching at guitar festivals and advanced training courses.
Santiago Molina Gimbernat was born in Cancún, Mexico. At the age of 16, he was admitted to the Faculty of Music at the University of Veracruz, studying under Enrique Salmerón, and in 2014, he continued his studies at the Mozarteum University in Salzburg, where he completed his Bachelor's degree with top honours. He has participated in masterclasses with distinguished musicians, including Jorge Luis Zamora, Horacio Franco, Cecilio Perera, Pablo Garibay, Omán Kaminsky, Rémi Boucher, Eliot Fisk, Pavel Steidl, and Scott Hill. A recipient of numerous prizes and awards in competitions across Mexico, Austria, and Croatia, he has performed internationally. Alongside his teaching commitments at the Gitarrenstudio Friedberg, the Neu-Ulm Music School, and the Department of Music Education at the University of Augsburg, Santiago is an active lecturer at workshops and has successfully guided students to competition success, most recently at the national Jugend musiziert competition in Germany.

Σύντροφοι στη ζωή και στην τέχνη, οι κιθαρίστες Isabella Selder και Santiago Molina Gimbernat γνωρίστηκαν κατά τη διάρκεια των σπουδών τους στο Μοτσαρτέουμ του Σάλτσμπουργκ. Ενωμένοι από το πάθος τους για τη μουσική δωματίου και την επιθυμία τους να εξερευνήσουν έργα πέρα από το συμβατικό ρεπερτόριο, ίδρυσαν το Molina Guitar Duo το 2017. Τα προγράμματά τους ξεχωρίζουν για τις πρωτότυπες διασκευές τους και τη διεπιστημονική σύμπραξη λογοτεχνίας και μουσικής. Σήμερα, το Molina Guitar Duo αναγνωρίζεται ως ένα από τα πιο υποσχόμενα σύνολα της κιθαριστικής σκηνής, και έχει επαινεθεί από τους μουσικοκριτικούς για την «παθιασμένη, γλαφυρή ερμηνεία τους και την εκπληκτική αποτελεσματικότητα που έχουν ως σύνολο». Το Molina Guitar Duo θα κάνει το ντεμπούτο του στην Κύπρο μέσα στο πλαίσιο του 19ου Φεστιβάλ Κιθάρας EGTA 2025, που διοργανώνεται σε συνεργασία με το Ίδρυμα Τεχνών Φάρος, σε ένα πρόγραμμα που αναδεικνύει τις εκφραστικές και δεξιοτεχνικές δυνατότητες του κιθαριστικού ντουέτου, με μια ποικιλόμορφη επιλογή έργων που προβάλλουν την ευελιξία της κιθάρας, συνδυάζοντας την παράδοση με την καινοτομία σε έναν συναρπαστικό μουσικό διάλογο. Η συναυλία θα πραγματοποιηθεί το Σάββατο 26 Απριλίου 2025, στο The Shoe Factory, Λευκωσία / 8:30μμ.

Σήμερα, το Molina Guitar Duo αναγνωρίζεται ως ένα από τα πιο υποσχόμενα σύνολα της κιθαριστικής σκηνής, και το πρώτο τους άλμπουμ τους, Paris!, που κυκλοφόρησε από την εταιρεία Aurea Vox, έχει λάβει διθυραμβικές κριτικές. Παράλληλα με την έντονη συναυλιακή τους δραστηριότητα, ίδρυσαν το Gitarrenstudio Friedberg, όπου μεταλαμπαδεύουν την γνώση τους στη νέα γενιά κιθαριστών.
Η Isabella Selder γεννήθηκε στο Φρίντμπεργκ της Βαυαρίας και σπούδασε στη Βαϊμάρη, τη Βαρκελώνη και το Σάλτσμπουργκ, όπου ολοκλήρωσε τις σπουδές της με μεταπτυχιακό τίτλο Master of Arts. Έχει τιμηθεί με διακρίσεις σε διεθνείς διαγωνισμούς, μεταξύ των οποίων ο 9ος Διαγωνισμόςς Norba Caesarina στην Κάθερες και το 18ο Διεθνές Φεστιβάλ Κιθάρας στην Κόρια της Ισπανίας. Εκτός από την καριέρα της ως σολίστ και ως μέλος του Molina Guitar Duo, η Ισαβέλλα έχει διατελέσει λέκτορας στο Τμήμα Μουσικής Εκπαίδευσης του Πανεπιστημίου του Άουγκσμπουργκ. Είναι περιζήτητη ως κριτής σε εθνικούς και διεθνείς διαγωνισμούς και αφοσιώνεται στη μουσική εκπαίδευση, διδάσκοντας σε εργαστήρια μουσικής και σεμινάρια μουσικών συνόλων σε φεστιβάλ κιθάρας και εξειδικευμένα προγράμματα κατάρτισης.
Ο Santiago Molina Gimbernat γεννήθηκε στην πόλη Κανκούν του Μεξικού. Σε ηλικία 16 ετών έγινε δεκτός στη Μουσική Σχολή του Πανεπιστημίου της Βερακρούζ, όπου φοίτησε στην τάξη του Enrique Salmerón, και το 2014 ξεκίνησε τις σπουδές του στο Πανεπιστήμιο Μοτσαρτέουμ του Σάλτσμπουργκ, όπου ολοκλήρωσε το πτυχίο του με άριστα. Έχει παρακολουθήσει εργαστήρια με διεθνούς φήμης μουσικούς, όπως Jorge Luis Zamora, Horacio Franco, Cecilio Perera, Pablo Garibay, Omán Kaminsky, Rémi Boucher, Eliot Fisk, Pavel Steidl, και Scott Hill. Το Molina Guitar Duo παίζει με κιθάρες κατασκευασμένες από τον κιθαροποιό Kolya Panhuyzen.
