The Greater Patchogue Foundation Invites you to a special Reception introducing this year’s Italian-Americans of the Year - Patchogue Knights of Columbus Council #725!The Patchogue Council #725 of the Knights of Columbus celebrating it’s 121th year of service to the Patchogue community has been selected this year’s honoree for the Feast of St. Liberata.
One of the oldest and largest service organizations on L.I. The Patchogue Council was formed in 1903 when 51 Catholic gentlemen from the Patchogue area headed by Grand Knight John Gerety started their council at the St Francis De Sales Church. Right from the start the Patchogue Council grew to be one of the most active fraternal groups on Long Island.
They later formed the Monseigneur Corporation in order to finance the building at their 1st club house on Academy Street. In 1961 they purchased the Patchogue Roller skating rink on Railroad Ave, and turned it into one of Suffolk Counties top Catering halls with an occupancy of 1500 people. They now reside on First Street where they continue to use their facility for meetings, parties, socials, as well as Charitable events. All proceeds raised by the Knights are distributed to local charities. In the past, contributions have gone to: St Joseph’s College, The Ursuline Sisters, Sunshine fund for Childrens Cancer at Stony Brook Hospital, Gigi’s Playhouse of Long Island, Northport and Stony Brook Veterans Hospital, Special Olympics, Boys and Girl Scouts of America, collecting and donating food to local food pantries, and countless other charities. Council 725 purchased the first Dialysis machine for Brookhaven Memorial Hospital and built the hospital’s First chapel. Council 725 is the only Knights of Columbus who supports not one but (4) local Catholic Churches and have recently been selected as the number one council in Suffolk County. Even though they are an organization of Catholic men, they have never denied their contributions to any person, group or organization in need.
